Modification Services for Warm Audio Wa1B

Once your purchase is complete you will be contacted with Mailing instructions, Work Order# and Work Order form for our mail in service.

We put a lot of love into the modifications on this one, as with all of our modifications, to squeeze out the maximum performance possible.

The Wa1B is almost a spot on clone circuit wise, but has changes in components quality and types that compromise some of the beloved character.

These compromises are the center point of most people’s disappointment with the sound.

These can best be described as; not being smooth (attack and release curves are off) not as warm, smaller and more mid forward (character is off).

Being that these are a beloved compressor the world over and due to a large number of inquiries, we worked the design over to provide some modifications that will make this a center piece in your studio while not breaking your bank by purchasing a new or used model.

Post modifications they sound great on Bass, vocals and all of your favorite 1B applications.

Our modifications remedy the issues by replacing these components and by adjusting some values in key locations and other tweaks.

We do a complete audio path upgrade using premium parts for lower noise and higher headroom as well as lower distortion.

All Audio caps are swapped out for better performance using Panasonic Parts and Orange Drop Capacitors in the audio path for more authenticity, character, audio width and longer life.

Bypassing is performed where necessary for lower noise in the power supply lines.

Power supply modifications are also performed thru out for the lowest possible noise figures in the overall design and better current delivery. The power transformer in these is a bit smaller so adjustments had to be made.

All tubes are swapped for Low noise high headroom Gold Lion Tubes for premium quality.

High Performance proper Vactrols are installed for proper attack and release times as well as character.

Finally Calibration is redone in order to set the unit up properly with the performance changes.

Post mod These are wonderful sounding units with a lot of dynamic range and big bottom end, smooth character and low noise, just the way we like it.
